Scope and Content Captain of the 145th Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteers in the Civil War. Died from wounds inflicted at the Battle of Fredericksburg, (December 1862). Papers include a manuscript copy of a personal memoir about Brown, written in 1869 by Samuel P. Bates, Pennsylvania state historian, and various pieces of correspondence to and from Brown and his family in Erie, Pennsylvania.
