Patrick Henry Research Scholar at Hampden-Sydney (1972-73). Member of the Society of the Cincinnati, the Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities, the Virginia Sons of the American Revolution, and the Sons of Confederate Veterans. Certified Virginia Tree Farmer in Mechlenburg and Lunenburg counties. Past director of the Virginia Forests Educational and Research Board.
