From the Collection:

A single letter written to Mary Kelly of Bloomington, Indiana by an unknown Union soldier serving with the 10th Iowa infantry. The letter describes an ambush committed by Confederate soldiers against the Union soldiers stationed at Bird's Point, Missouri. Letter describes how three men from his company died as a result of this skirmish. Author directs further correspondence to Bird's Point care of Captain Paris P. Henderson.
