The collection consists of a Confederate States of America Treasury Department claim. The claim, dated March 14, 1865, pertains to a monetary claim by Catherine Bowers, widow of Private James Bowers. The claim states that James Bowers was killed will serving in Captain Lee's Co. B of the 4th Regiment of Virginia Volunteers. The claim states that Private Bower's widow, Catherine, is due his sum of one hundred and eighteen dollars in back pay.
