Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities, Montgomery County Branch Papers,
The records largely document the recent history of Smithfield Plantation, ancestral home of the Preston family, focusing particularly on its restoration beginning in 1962. While much of the renovation occurred in the 1960s, many of the records detail other renovation projects done in the 1970s and 1980s. The collection also includes historical and other related documents dating from before the original Preston family's residence at Smithfield.
Sherwood Anderson Collection,
Correspondence among author Sherwood Anderson and family members, most notably letters written by Anderson to his daughter Marian, as well as some of his professional correspondence. Also includes research material about Anderson gathered by Ray White and notecards--compiled by Dr. Charles Modlin--documenting the annotations in the books within Special Collections' Anderson book collection.

Lyric Theatre Collection
The Lyric Theatre Collection contains lobby cards, event programs, film flyers, and several film-related newsletters, dating from 1922 to 2006. The majority of the collection consists of lobby cards (1936-1979) and film flyers (undated, but mostly c.1920s-1950s).

Edward A. Green Reminiscences
Facsimile copies of Green's history of the 12th Virginia Cavalry, including both the published version, serialized in an unidentified newspaper in 1902, and Green's handwritten draft notes.
Carter J. Glass Collection
Letter written to the sister of Carter J. Glass a Confederate Prisoner of War held at Point Lookout Prison in Point Lookout, Maryland. Carter discusses sick prisoners leaving the camp and inquires about prisoners that have left the camp previously. Collection also includes a slip granting leave to Danville, VA and a portrait of Carter Glass in his later years.
