MSS. Manuscript Collections

The collection contains the condolence materials received by the Marching Virginians after April 16, 2007. Much of the material pertains to Ryan "Stack" Christopher Clark, baritone and student leader in the Marching Virginians. This collection incorporates a variety of materials and artifacts, including correspondence, posters, banners, an American flag flown on the USS Constitution, scrapbooks, and a band uniform.

This collections contains papers relating to Charles Folsom who served as a Quartermaster with the 20th Regiment, Massachusetts Infantry in the latter years of the American Civil War.

The Newport and Clover Hollow, Giles County History collection contains oral history interviews, transcripts, notes, newspaper clippings, historic district survey forms, a video tape, and a geological survey map related to the creation of the Greater Newport Rural Historic District. The collection dates from 1973 to 2009, although it does include a typed copy of a 1904 Giles County will.

The Myrvin Lafe Pence Scrapbook and Class Photograph contains photographs, newspaper clippings, tickets, and other memorabilia from Pence's time as a student at Virginia Tech from 1918 to 1922.

The collection contains a handwritten book of English recipes and home remedies, with the last few pages devoted to a description of quilting designs and a "list of plate in use" for 1838.

The collection consists of a compiled scrapbook of clippings, cartoons, images, and articles related to decorating and interior design.

The collection contains 85 photographs of the Virginian Railway and 2 images from the Virginian Railway Company's Annual Report. Photograph subjects include locomotives, people (none identified), and railway accidents.

The Crowder Family Papers includes receipts, legal documents, letters, and accounts that date from 1821 to 1875 and are associated with the Crowder family of Cumberland County. This collection contains the papers of the following individuals: Thomas W. Crowder, to whom a majority of the documents pertain, John E. Crowder, Willson Crowder, and Richard Hughes.

This collection contains the papers of Henry B. "Puss" Redd. The collection contains photographs, clippings, and VPI alumni material as well as a large amount of material related to Redd's position as a faculty member and a coach for the VPI football team.

A collection of scrapbooks that document the campus events organized by the Virginia Tech Union during the academic years from 1969 to 2009.
