MSS. Manuscript Collections

The collection includes two pieces of correspondence to Camilla Diffenderfer from 1863 and 1865. One is an invitation from Gen. George Henry Chapman and the other is a letter from A.H. Yeagel.

This collection includes poems were written for Creasy by someone else whose identity is unknown. There are two poems, "The Virginia Girls Song" and the companion piece, "The Volunteers Reply." A note at the bottom of the second page indicates the poems were "written by a true friend for Mr. L. Creasy" in December 1863.

This collection consists of an undated photograph album, program from his Inauguration as President of Virginia Tech, The Techgram, May 1, 1949 and an official photogram taken by The Foster Studio in Richmond, Virginia. There are several postcards and letters sent to Ella Boyer, possibly a housekeeper in the Newman family.

This collection consists of oral history interviews with influential members of the LGBTQ community at Virginia Tech, both past and present. Interviews were conducted by Tamara Kennelly, University Archivist, David Cline, Assistant Professor of History and Director of the Graduate Certificate in Public History, and students of Professor David Cline's Oral History class.

This collection consists of 2 ledgers, one from 1919-1920 and the other from 1932-1934. The ledgers contain purchases and payments from the patrons of a general store owned by James and Rosa Evans in the Pennington Gap--St. Charles area of Virginia.

Rural Retreat Produce & Milling Company until 1911, then Rural Retreat Water Mills. Ledger begins in 1915 and includes more than 200 customer names and accounts, plus records of items purchased.

The collection consists of several Army and other U. S. military publications, primarily relating to World War II, including: Newsmap, Newsmap Overseas Edition, World News of the Week, and A. M. S. Bulletins. There are additional reports and charts from other agencies. Materials in the collection date from 1942 to 1969.

This collection contains the papers of Robert F. Graeff a professor of architecture at Virginia Tech. The papers include photographs, handbooks, and design plans/instructions for design primarily relating the bathroom facilities.

This collection contains papers from the Shugart Family of Southwest Virginia, created between 1811 and 1876.
