MSS. Manuscript Collections

The Robert S. and Martha C. Radspinner Collection contains memorabilia scrapbooks, photograph albums, Virginia Tech newspapers, concert programs, and other ephemera related to VPI. The material documents Robert S. (class of 1941) and Martha C. (class of 1942) Radspinner's time at VPI and dates from 1937 to 1942.

The collection includes a scrapbook from the Young Democrats at Virginia Tech dating from 1986-1987. The scrapbook contains administrative information, memorabilia and photographs from the Virginia Young Democrats Convention, materials from service projects, invites to club events/programs, and items from the 1986 state and national elections, and newsclippings.

The collection consists of a receipt received by W. C. Franklin on March 8, 1876, from the Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College.

The collection includes a single letter from Lewis M. Foster to his mother, written near Petersburg, Virginia, December 1864.

Typescript drafts and research materials--including photocopies of interview transcripts, court documents, and printed materials--for Lon Savage's book, Thunder in the Mountains: the West Virginia Mine War, 1920-21.

The Mark A. Weber Papers include minutes, correspondence, constitution, handouts, notes, and newspaper and magazine articles concerning the Virginia Tech gay and lesbian student organization, Lambda Horizon, from 1971-1991, also included are class projcts, photographs, and videos from Weber's time as a student at Virginia Tech, 1983-1987.

Letter from retired Union Army Major General James H. Wilson to Gideon Welles, of New York, briefly discussing an overcoat and an impending visit.

The Colonel William Christian Chapter, National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution Records contain administrative papers, memorabilia, documents relating to community work, and correspondence from the now disbanded Christiansburg, VA, chapter. Papers date from the mid 1930s to the 1990s.

The collection contains items, which belonged to or were collected by Harold C. Cox during his time as a student at Virginia Agriculture and Mechanical College and Polytechnic Institute from 1922-1926, and his continued experiences with the university as alumnus, primarily from the 1970s and 1980s.
