Biographical note
Aldo Leopold was born in Burlington, Iowa on January 11, 1887. He went to Yale for their programs in Forestry. After graduating, he worked for the Forest Services where he was in charge of killing the predatory animals negatively impacting the local area. This brought about his research in environmental ethics. He was a professor at the University of Wisconsin. His works as an ecologist, forester and environmentalist were influential in the development of modern environmental ethics and the movement for wilderness conservation. His most well known work was A Sand County Almanac (1949).

Arrangement
The collection is arranged so that a carbon copy letter is at the front, followed by a summary of Game Cycle Data, with the two larger charts at the back.

Aldo Leopold Charts were acquired by Special Collections prior to 1974.
Processing Information
The processing, arrangement, and description of the Aldo Leopold Charts was completed prior to 2010. Additional description was completed in January 2011.
