Biographical Note
Joshua W. Culver was a 1st Sergeant in the 104th Regiment, Company E, of the New York Volunteer Infantry. The company took part in battles in Virginia and Maryland as part of the Duryee's Brigade in the summer and autumn of 1862. He was wounded in the thigh and was at the First Army Corps Hospital near Gettysburg, Pa.
