William Addison Caldwell Papers

Born in Craig County, Virginia; first student to enroll at the Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College (now Virginia Tech), in October 1872. Graduated in 1876. Papers consist of Caldwell's report card from the 1875 academic year, with the envelope it was sent in; a bible given to Caldwell in 1878 as a graduation gift; a letter written by him in Wrightsville, North Carolina, in 1910, a month and a half before his death, to his niece Katherine Caldwell in Radford, Virginia; and a photograph, ca. 1900, of the Caldwell family.
