Scope and Content
The collection contains six letters from Baldwin from camps in Ohio, Indiana and Tennessee, to his wife in Blanchester, Ohio. Also included is one letter from Baldwin's brother, R.F. Baldwin, in Ohio. All of the letters were written during Baldwin's service with the 82nd Regiment, Ohio Infantry.

Biographical Information
Asahel (Asa) Baldwin was born in Ohio about 1835. Some time before 1860, he married his wife, Lucinda (Lucy). He served as a private in the 82nd Regiment, Ohio Infantry through the end of Civil War, then returned to Ohio. In 1880, Baldwin and his wife were still living in Blancaster, Clinton County, Ohio.
