Scope and Content
Collection consists of twenty-four letters to Mary Coley of New Haven, Connecticut, from family and friends. The majority of the letters are from her mother Sarah M. Everitt of New Haven, and her sister Isabelle of New York City. Many of the letters written during the Civil War years refer to war-related events (return of the volunteers, the Battle of Gettysburg) but the letters mostly concentrate on children, family matters, illness, and deaths.
