Color: blue gray Material: wool with quilted wool (?) lining Manufacturer: Chestnut St., Philadelphia: Jacob Reed’s Sons Donor: unknown Condition: stained, dirty; moth holes on sleeves, front, lining Special Markings: Gold buttons with palmetto tree and S.C. Back skirt spit in half with 3 buttons on each side and black stripe under buttons; inside pocket under left arm; 3 smaller buttons on sleeves set on black strip, scalloped on one side. Belt loops form buttoned flap. Metal numeral 2 pinned to the front of the black collar. Inside lining marked Carolina Rifles. Possibly Civil War South Carolina Infantry uniform?
