Item: coat with attached cape (VPI) Date: 1938 (?) Color: Navy blue with black lining in coat and red lining under the cape Material: wool felt (?) for exterior of coat and lining under cape, the lining in the coat is cotton (?) except in sleeves. (?) Manufacturer: Label located inside of interior pocket has a picture of an eagle on a shield and reads: Virginia Polytechnic Institute, Blacksburg, VA, Uniform Department Donor: Condition: fair, no hem on the bottom (may never have been one) holes and stains in coat lining, worn places in cape Special Markings: Label reads John Stephen White 52-38-31-39-19 (2)-15, gold diagonal strip on lower sleeves, 6 gold VPI button on coat, 8 smaller identical button on the cape, silver colored chain sown into the back of collar, 2 silver colored hooks drawl the collar tight, pocket on left inside of coat slit in the back, form one side of a long rectangle, each of the for corners is marked by a large gold button.
