Papers consist of a document confirming Gallaher's promotion from private to lieutenant (August 1861), and letters written by Gallaher to his parents (May and July, 1861). One of the letters was written from Manassas, Virginia, two days before the Battle of First Bull Run, July, 1861. Transcripts available.
