Barnes Family Correspondence,
The collection contains seven letters written to and from members of the Barnes family between 1961 and 1864 and two handwritten poems.
John Barnes Performing Arts Collection
James Barnett Inventory
This collection contains one list of free Negroes and Mulattoes, compiled by James Barnett, district commissioner of revenue, Montgomery County, Virginia. The list includes places of residence of the free persons as well as a brief job description for each. The list divides Mulattoes from Negroes and while the Mulattoes consist of three families totaling fifteen persons, there are only two Negroes, one of whom is John Hope, father of one of the Mulatto families.
John W. Barnett Patent,
Broadside entitled "Instructions for Using John W. Barnett's Patent Process for Curing Leaf Tobacco. Patented January 7th 1879." Barnett is identified as a resident of Big Spring, Montgomery County, Virginia.
Joseph Hampton Barnett Medals,
The collection contains the Southern Cross of Honor, reunion medals from Florida and Richmond, Virginia, and ribbons from the Grand Camps Confederate Veterans of Virginia reunions.
William Smith Hanger Baylor Correspondence,
The collection includes three items: two letters from Baylor to his wife (April 22, and August 18, 1862), and a letter from Edward P. Walton to Mrs. Baylor written after Baylor's death (October 1, 1862).

Papers of Roanoke, Virginia resident Vivian Coleman Bear, including correspondence from E. Ferd Weigand and other suitors; family correspondence and financial documents relating to the Clemens and Staley families; Bible with genealogical notes and clippings; photographs; and ephemera.
Jonathan B. Beckwith Letters
The collection contains two letters to relatives by Beckwith. In the 1861 letter, Beckwith writes of the burgeoning Civil War in Virginia and what he has heard about actions in surrounding states. The 1866 letter refers to family business and Beckwith's views on ante- and post-bellum West Virginia.
