Railroad

This collection contains roster information of steam powered locomotives used by Norfolk & Western Railway written by Arthur S. Bixby, Sr. in 1978. The roster gives a brief overview of the history of Norfolk & Western Railroad and Norfolk & Western Railway. The steam locomotive information begins in 1881 and continues to 1961 with the phasing out of steam driven locomotives. Collection contains a letter from the author explaining the abbreviations used throughout the roster.

Papers--including correspondence, legal records, and financial documents--of Henry C. Parsons, official of the Richmond & Alleghany Railroad, Atlantic and Northwestern Railroad, and Kanawha Construction Company, and owner of Natural Bridge, Virginia.

Collection of records, memorabilia, and photographs relating to a number of North American railroads but concentrating mostly the Norfolk & Western Railway. Also includes papers of various Southwest Virginia families and a small set of personal papers.

Includes photographs of a Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad station in New Castle and Mountain Lake resort hotel, both in Giles County. Postcards from Appalachia contains postcards depicting various landmarks, locations, and scenery in the Appalachian region during the first half of the 20th century.
