Soldier in the 56th New York Regiment during the Civil War. Collection consists of two letters written by Carr and Thomas Clark, also of the 56th New York Regiment, in June 1862 from near the Chicahominy River, Virginia. Both letters are to a man named Robert. Carr's letter describes the regiment's involvement in the Battle of Fair Oaks and Seven Oaks.
