Scope and Content
Collection consists of a single letter written by Maria S. to Major Harper requesting the use of his newspaper to encourage ladies to support the men serving in the Civil War. Maria S. requests the use of the newspaper to ask for volunteers to sew or make things like undergarments, stockings and mattresses. Also included is a cover sheet which says West Point April 20, 1863
but there is no indication that this is related to the actual letter.
