William N. Curry Letter
Scope and Content
Collection consists of two letters written on the same page. The letters are written by William N. Curry to his two brothers, Alpheus and Harry. William Curry is in a Camp near Pocataligo, South Carolina. Curry describes camp life and discusses things like the weather and mentioning the presence of alligators in the swamps. Curry also describes seeing ships and the old iron horse.
In the letter to Harry, Curry discusses Yankee ships being run aground and set on fire to prevent the Confederates from taking the cargo. Curry also mentions rumors that the Yankees may try to retake Fort Sumter, but Curry feels that they will find this task a sore job.
