Billy G. Shelton Collection

Abstract

Collection includes two photographs from 1962 of Shelton receiving an "Outstanding Trainee" certificate for his basic training company at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. Also includes a letter from the Fort Jackson Commanding General to VPI President Walter S. Newman about Shelton's award.

Farrar Shelton Paper

Abstract

Paper describes the early meetings which lead to the creation of the farm demonstration work program. Farrar Shelton attended one of these early meetings as an eighth grader. Shelton later attended VPI and graduated with the class of 1915 with a degree in agriculture, he went on to become a county demonstration agent.

The Showacre Family Papers consists of a handwritten copy of a eulogy for Charles Showacre by Reverend William Runyan and given on May 22, 1864, and an acceptance letter dated September 23, 1873, admitting George D. Showarce to the Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College.

Slusser, an advertisement from the Pressed Steel Car Company, a reciept from the Virginia Tech dining hall, a United States patent application for a nut-lock invented by Murray C. and William J. Slusser, and pages from a personal account book.
